Our 2nd annual GFHC is happening! Just in time for back to school too. We will be hosting the event on August 17th from 10-3. In partnership with The Dress Code Project ( https://www.dresscodeproject.com/ ) and The Utah Pride Center!
This event is only for LGBTQIA+ youth up to 18 and still in high school. *College students accepted as well. Each child will have the opportunity to get their haircut and styled, get their nails painted, have some light makeup done, and/or choose an outfit to wear on the main stage and to take home! We also have backpacks sponsored by Kenya Professional that will be stocked with products and school supplies. We will have adults from the LGBTQIA+ community as volunteers to showcase how we do survive as Queer people and they can mentor a couple children.
This event will be free to the public, but we are truly focusing on LGBTQIA+ youth. So please bring your children who are interested or want to learn more. This event does require a reservation, just so we can manage times for the services. We will not be washing or coloring hair at all, so please come with your child’s hair washed and brushed. We will have to turn them away if hair is not clean and brushed. Each haircut will last no longer than 30 minutes, just so we can accommodate the most kids as possible.
We will have some snacks and drinks, but are looking for any donations that we can receive. If you are able to or know someone who can, please email us at joshua.lucero91@gmail.com and let us know. We are also looking for our volunteers for this event, so please let us know if you are one or know somebody who might be.
There will be live music, Drag Queens, giveaways and prizes, and of course a community of people to show your kids that they are loved and they can thrive!
